Tui Na (pronounced twee nah) is one of the three main branches of traditional Chinese medicine along with acupuncture and herbal therapy. Tui Na has been practiced for over 4000 years and could possibly be the most tried and tested hands on therapy in the world. |
This is a vigorous and deep massage which focuses not only on muscles but on specific meridians and points where a needle would be inserted if acupuncture was being used. A Tui Na practitioner will use Chinese medical theory to decide which techniques are best suited to the client |

Within the past fifty years China has made a significant rise in the International sports arena. Tui Na is available to Chinese athletes to help boost performance and treat injuries without requiring western therapies such as physiotherapy, osteopathy, or sports massage. |

A consultation will be carried out to ensure that the therapist is made aware of any contraindications and to plan the treatment so that the client’s needs are specifically met.
The treatment is carried out fully clothed on a massage table or on the floor. This is a vigorous massage focusing pressure with movement on target areas of the body, the therapist will adjust the level of pressure with a variety of techniques using palms, thumbs, elbows, forearms, and even feet, this may be followed up with a series of stretches, mobilizations, and manipulations to promote a wider range of movement to the effected muscles and joints. The first session may feel a little strong however many clients report wanting more pressure due to it’s powerful effects on releasing tension.
By the end of the treatment clients will report feeling light headed or supercharged depending on which techniques were used during the session. Almost all people who try Tui Na feel much better and find it a real pleasure to include it as part of a healthier lifestyle. |
